White Moscato Wine

Moscato Wines are wines which are prepared from Muscat grapes to the Vitis vinifera genus. There are over 200 different varieties of Muscat grapes around the world and in colors ranging from white to even black ones. There are several types of white Muscat wines.

Muscat Blanc

 

Muscat Blanc is the oldest recorded wine producing grape and the greatest of the Muscat grape variety. The grape variety has a very attractive scent. They constitute small berries and are used to produce wines which are light, heavy, sweet, sparkling and many other varieties. They usually smell of apricots and peaches with a common fruity feel.

Pink Moscato

 

This one is a muscato white wine variety which is characterized by the smell and color of cherry and strawberry in addition to the other fruit flavors. The color itself is very attractive and the best to gift to the most loved female in your life. There are also pink muscato’s in flavors of melon, citrus fruits, raspberry, apple etc. They are usually the fizzy type.

Moscato d’Asti

 

This is one of the most popular variant of moscato wines grown mostly in the Asti area of Italy and thus named so. This is a sweet wine with low alcohol concentration. It is preferably consumed in the paired form with desserts and thus categorized under dessert wines. It is produced form the Moscato Bianco grape variety.

Moscato d’Oro

 

Made from Muscat Canelli grapes grown in the Napa Valley, this one smells of flowers and lemon blossoms. Occasional smell tingles of tropical guava and lychee characterize this wine variety. Yeasts which give the floral character to the wine are used. It has a prominent aroma of pink jasmine.

Moscato Passito

Passito is a golden sweet wine produced in the Strait of Sicily Island. It is one of the oldest Muscat grapes produced. There are proof of the existence of the usage of this grape  variety dates back to the 800 BC by the greeks. It is a straw colored wine.

Muscat Canelli is a very seductive wine and is produced from Muscat Blanc. It is pale yellow colored with a small tinge of green. It is a rich and sweet wine with aromas of peaches and apricot. The finishing line is crisp and is best preferred as a dessert wine.

Moscato d’Asti Muscat Piedmont

 

Moscato d’Asti variety specifically from Piedmont region in Italy is very popular for its peculiar and unique taste. IT is best consumed within two years of vintage and is one of the most refreshing drinks found in the world. It is semi sparkling and in alcohol content.

Moscato di Terracina Oppidum

 

It is produced from moscato di Terracina which is a variant of moscato bianco. Moscato bianco is basically a white muscato grape variety. There are three varieties of wines produced from this Terracine grape variety. The Capitolium is a sticky, thick and sweet variety. The Templum is a semi dry type and usually served with desserts and the Oppidum is the most popular variety and is dry and light.

This is a white sparkling muscato wine which is controllably grown in the Asti town of Piedmont in Italy. It is produced from Moscato Banco grapes as Moscato d’ Asti. They differ in the way they are produced even though they are derived from the same plant from the same location. This one is kept fresh by a complex filtration process and is a low alcohol light wine and best used as dessert wine.

This slightly sparkling wine is produced from Reisling grapes and mostly smells of apples and lemon. It is mostly grown and manufactured in Australia. They make a perfect combo with Strawberries or with fresh cut fruits. It is also used a dessert wine and also mixed with sorbets as it is light.

Muscat de Rivasaltes is a fortified wine produced from Muscat d’Alexandrie and Muscat a Petits Grains. These two are mixed in equal quantities to create the perfect blend of flavor and aroma. The alcohol content is kept at 15% as a common rule and is a control wine type for fortified wines. It is usually drunk as an aperitif but sometimes also accompanied by foie gras.

As the name suggests, this is a frizzy wine variety made from the muscato grape. The alcohol content is usually low and this is a delicate wine type. The natural carbon dioxide that is formed during fermentation is bottled carefully to give the wine the elegant bubbles. Different companies add different flavors to it, but usually it comes in fruity flavors and sometimes spicy and herby to.

Manufactured by blending together of Muscat Canelli and Muscat Orange, this wine variety is a perfect dessert wine. The Muscat grapes grown in California are mostly used and different brands use different combinations to make their own California Moscato variety.

This white wine variety is produced in the French Alsace wine region. Its is made out of a proportionate composition of Muscat s petits white grains and Muscat Ottonel. This is usually a dry variety and is popular for its high aroma. It makes a great combination with spicy dishes.

Moscato di Trani

 

This one refers to the Moscato wine produced from the Moscato Bianco grapes grow in the Puglia region in Italy. They are grown in warm sunny climate. The name Trani is derived from the coastal Italian town of Trani which was the heart of wine center and was a predominant wine port.

Muskateller

 

This is just anther name given for the Moscato Bianco variety and is known as Muskateller in Germany. This is an aromatic variety produced with imbibed floral fragrances and smell of peaches and lemony flavors. It is usually lightly sparkling type.
