The vineyard that produces Rietvallei Red Muscadel has over the years become renowned internationally for producing one of the best fortified wines in all of South Africa. Most of the bush vines from which this particular wine is created are more than Eighty years old and are able to yield tiny but very intensely flavoured berries.
The Rietvallei Red Muscadel dessert wine is very fragrant and comes with a perfumed Muscat aroma that you will find extremely enticing. It is so enticing just having one glass of this superb wine may be difficult. As sipped you will discover that it has a very complex raisiny sweetness to it as well as a fragrance that is similar to rose petals.
Yet as this wine is quite acidic you will discover that it complements the wine a great deal. So enjoying this very intense sweet and aromatic dessert wine is very easy.
Just like other dessert wines it is important that you serve this one at room temperature. Although it is best enjoyed with desserts such as rich chocolate fondant or strawberries and ice cream it actually pairs well with cheeses. Plus it is even a superb wine to enjoy either as an aperitif or as a cocktail. Simply pour some of this beautiful Rietvallei Red Muscadel over some crushed ice to which you then add some sliced strawberries. Otherwise you could pour some into a tall glass to which you add fresh ginger and mint leaf as well as a slice of lemon and soda water to make a refreshing summer drink.
