Moscato d Asti

Moscato d’ Asti is a sparkling white wine cultivated and made particularly in the region of Asti, north western Italy. At the same time, the wine is also produced in the nearby areas of the regions of Cuneo and Alessandria. The overall flavour of the wine is very sweet and less in alcohol. Moscato d’Asti wine is produced from the best Moscato grapes. Theoretically a fizzante, an effervescent or light sparkling wine, Moscato d’Asti tends to have less bubbles when compared with its cousin Asti. This wine is very light and brittle in texture and comparatively less in alcoholic content about 5% to 7%. Moscato d’Asti wine is easily served with the conventional Italian biscotti or wafer in the summer season with a brittle garden salad. In the Piedmont region, it is a custom to drink Moscato d’Asti in festivity, marriages and on Christmas Day. Lesser recognized when compared with the white wine sparklers of Piedmont region is Bracchetto, a ruby-red coloured sparkling wine produced from Brachetto grapes.
